Snow's not seriously flying yet (not that it does very much in Lotus Land, anyway), but the chill is in the air - and the big, chunky raindrops certainly make it feel like the real stuff could come soon. So putting up the last of the late summer shots is a bit of a day brightener. From butterflies, to dragonflies, and brightly coloured flowers, this one will make your drearying heart sing.

white MallowWhite Mallows are complemented so well with their deliciously coloured pistils and stamens. I feel like they're confectioners' wonders with delicately piped icing accents contrasting wedding whites.

8 Spotted Skimmer DragonflyAn 8 Spotted Skimmer dragonfly (right), was a wonderful catch at Burnaby Fraser Foreshore Park. A number of them were darting around, landing and flying off before shots could be focused and taken, but this one stayed long enough to get a couple of nice close ups. Happily, not only are they delightful little aerialists and gorgeous to boot, but they're voracious when it comes to taking care of some of the nastier little visitors of the summer - mosquitos.

juvenile Bald EagleAnd of course, I have a teaser shot of more to come. We were at Brydon Lagoon again, looking for the elusive Bald Eagles we'd heard about, and were happily rewarded with a beautiful juvenile doing flypasts, as well as posing sedately for us in a tree overlooking the water.
